Optical Bonding Solutions

Our bonding technologies ensure strong adhesion, minimal reflection, and high reliability across industrial, medical, and automotive applications.

Why Optical Bonding? Performance Comparison

Feature Air Bonding (Tape) Optical Bonding (OCR/OCA)
Sunlight Readability Poor (High Reflection) Excellent (Low Reflection)
Internal Fogging Risk of Moisture Zero Fogging (Hermetic Seal)
Contrast Ratio Standard High (Up to 400% improvement)
Shock Resistance Basic Rugged (Better impact support)
Parallax Effect Visible gap None (Direct visual alignment)

Optical Bonding Methods

Optical Bonding Size Range Notes
OCA Up to 15.6” Two fully automated production lines for high-volume manufacturing
LOCA / OCR Up to 32” Excellent for high contrast and durability
Silicone Up to 32” Ideal for rugged, large-size industrial applications

Full Black Touch Display Module

Based on optical bonding technology, FANNAL adjusts various parameters to achieve a Full Black Touch Display Module.

When TFT is powered off the VA area looks similar to black as the cover BM. The color difference between the cover BM and the TFT VA can be △E ≤2

This effect can be achieved through multiple techniques, including ink formulation, monochrome OCA, or monochrome glass.

Case Studies

Success stories from clients from various industries, to see if there are similarities with your requirements.

Dust & Fog-Free Optical Bonding

Customer Issue: Previous in-house bonding caused visible dust between panels, resulting in poor appearance. Additionally, screens experienced condensation in winter, leading to display issues.

FANNAL Solution: Using optical bonding technology, air gaps between panels are eliminated, enhancing both aesthetics and durability.

Result: The displays are now dust-free and clean, free from condensation issues, seamlessly integrated, visually more appealing, and overall quality has significantly improved.

One-Stop Optical Bonding Solution

Customer Issue: The customer previously had to work with separate suppliers for displays, touch panels, and bonding, making the process complex, costly, and hard to manage.

FANNAL Solution: FANNAL offers a three-in-one, one-stop solution: sourcing original displays, customizing touch panels, and performing in-house optical bonding, all under unified management.

Result: Reduced costs, controlled inventory, stable quality, simplified process, and a more reliable final product.

FAQ

Looking for specific details? See our detailed FAQs. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with us.
  • Q What should be considered when performing optical bonding for outdoor products?

A For outdoor applications, it’s essential to use OCA/OCR with anti-UV protection to prevent yellowing and maintain optical clarity under sunlight exposure.
  • Q Can you bond customer-supplied LCD modules?

    A
Yes. Fannal supports OEM optical bonding — integrating customer-provided LCD modules with our custom cover glass, touch screen, or AD board while ensuring full optical and electrical compatibility.
  • Q Does optical bonding affect touch performance?

A No. Optical bonding actually improves touch performance by reducing the air gap between layers, resulting in faster response and more accurate detection, even under gloves or wet conditions (depending on touch sensor type).
  • Q How does optical bonding impact cost and lead time?

A Cost depends on display size, adhesive type, and production volume. Optical bonding adds value through longer lifespan, better visibility, and improved durability, often reducing maintenance and replacement costs over time. Fannal provides flexible quotation and sample testing before mass production.
  • Q When should you use optical bonding for LCD displays?

A Optical bonding is essential for LCDs operating in high-ambient light environments or rugged conditions where readability and durability are critical. You should specify optical bonding when your application requires the elimination of internal reflections (air gap removal), prevention of moisture condensation/fogging, or enhanced structural resistance against mechanical shock and vibration.
  • Q OCA vs. LOCA optical bonding: what’s the difference?

A The primary difference lies in the adhesive state: OCA (Optically Clear Adhesive) uses a pre-cut dry film, while LOCA (Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive) utilizes a liquid resin. OCA is ideal for high-volume production of standardized flat screens, whereas LOCA is the superior choice for large-format industrial displays, curved surfaces, and uneven gaps due to its superior gap-filling capabilities and reworkability.
